From the Vicar:
Celebrating the Feast Day
of Guadalupe:
This coming Sunday at 6 PM we will observe the Feast Day of La Virgen de Guadalupe. Children will experience Godly Play, engaging the story of the Holy Family, while adults will hold a bilingual litany of prayer, traditional songs and Holy Eucharist. All are invited to participate in this multicultural worship event.
Las Posadas:
Las Posadas is a nine-day celebration of good food, songs and a brief liturgy that recounts the story of Mary and Joseph leading up to the birth of the Christ Child on December 24th. This year, we will celebrate a posada at the church the evening of Sunday, December 18. In addition, families are invited to sign up and host additional posadas between the 16th and the 24th. To host a posada, sign up at the church or contact me directly by e-mail at VicarStCatherines@gmail.com
Lessons and Carols:
All are invited to join with Nehalem Bay UMC for Lessons and Carols in Sunday Dec. 18 at 11:00 AM. This is a great way for us to develop and strengthen our relationship with the churches in our area by doing things together. On the 24th, we will reciprocate in a joint Christmas Eve festivity.
Christmas Services:
- Christmas Eve, December 24th – Music, carols and hymns at 5:30 PM, followed by a Festive Eucharist at 6:00 PM
- A single service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 25th at 9:30 AM
New office phone numbers:
Given the age of many of our office systems, we are currently updating our technology to better meet our needs with a de-centralized office. We will soon have a new office computer and a new copier. In addition, effective immediately we have a new phone number for the church office, as well as a dedicated cell phone so I can be contacted directly and more easily during the week. Please update your address books!

End of year stewardship update and
2017 Annual Meeting:
This is a great time for all of us to review our personal financial commitment to St. Catherine’s so we can end the year on a balanced budget. A huge thanks to all of you whose generous giving has allowed us to meet our financial obligations this year even as we expand into more robust mission and ministry directions.
Our Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 22 at which time we will present our final budget for the year and confirm the election of members to the Bishop’s Advisory Committee and delegates to Diocesan Convention.

Thanks to Bill and Ginny for getting a tree for the narthex (entry) and for stringing up outdoor lights.
Thanks, as always, to the cleaning crews for their faithful work each week. Room on the crews for more helpers to keep the garbage emptied, the floors mopped and the bathrooms sparkling. Teams of 2 work every 5-6 weeks. Let Ann+ know if you are interested in helping with this ministry.
